Crack Repair
Not all cracks mean the same thing. A hairline shrinkage crack from the original pour is cosmetic. A crack that's widening, that has one side higher than the other, or that runs the same line every winter is telling you something about the ground underneath it. We route it out, check for movement, and fill it with the right material for what's actually causing it — not just caulk it and move on.

Repair work starts with a straight answer, not a sales pitch. Here's what that looks like.

Look at the whole slab, not just the crack
We walk the concrete, check the extent of the damage, and look for what's happening around it — drainage, grade, joints, nearby cracking — before we say anything about fixing it.

Tell you repair or replace, and why
If a repair will genuinely hold, we'll tell you that. If the sub-base is gone or the slab is too far broken up, we'll tell you that too, and why throwing a patch on it would be a waste of your money.

Cracks get properly routed and filled, not just skimmed over. Resurfacing goes down clean and bonded. Leveling work addresses what's under the slab, not just the surface.

Questions before you call
How do I know if my concrete needs repair or full replacement?
It comes down to what's happening below the surface. If the slab is structurally sound and the sub-base is holding, repair usually makes sense. If there's a lot of settling, the concrete is broken into multiple pieces, or a repair keeps failing in the same spot, replacement is usually the honest answer. We'll tell you straight which one you're looking at.
Why did my crack come back after I filled it myself?
Most store-bought caulk and filler sits on top of a crack instead of bonding into it, so it pops back out with the next freeze-thaw cycle or any ground movement. It also doesn't tell you anything about why the crack happened in the first place — if the ground underneath is still moving, whatever you put on top of it will crack again.
Is a repaired slab as strong as a new one?
A properly repaired crack or leveled slab can hold up fine for a long time — but a repair doesn't turn old concrete into new concrete. If the underlying sub-base or the concrete itself is badly compromised, no amount of surface repair fixes that, and we'll tell you if that's the case instead of selling you a patch.
What causes concrete to settle or crack in the first place?
Around Roanoke it's usually one of a few things: poor compaction under the original slab, water washing out the sub-base over time, tree roots, or the freeze-thaw cycle we get every winter working on existing cracks and joints. Knowing which one applies to your slab is most of what decides whether repair will actually hold.
